This week we are continuing to explore the Atlantic countries of South America, including Argentina. Since our geography book mentions Eva Peron and her influence on Argentina, we will be watching an excerpt from Evita, the song “A New Argentina,” and then discussing it. At the end of the week, the 5th and 6th graders should be able to label nine South American countries on the map of the continent. We will continue with the Pacific countries next week, including Peru and Ecuador, which I was fortunate to visit in 2005, touring Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands. (Hopefully I can find my photos of that trip.)
In art the students continued to work on their Mexican moon/ sun drawings.
