From Morah Beth:
This was definitely a crazy week, with delay's, a snow day, and lots of Chanukah play rehearsals! We are so proud of the children for the amazing performance on Wednesday! They are true starts!
This week in Maththe1st graders completed their workbooks and are ready to begin a new year with some fun new math centers! Kindergarten children have completed their number line packet and have had some fun with Chanukah math!
Writing has continued daily with more fun prompts.
Monday - If you had to use one word to describe yourself what would it be. Use it in a sentence about yourself.
Tuesday - No school - Snow Day
Thursday - How did you feel during the Chanukah play?
This week's Open Circlelesson focused on the difference between tattling and reporting. Please ask your child to explain the difference between these and what they should do for each situation.
This week's spelling list consisted of review words that the children will be quizzed on after the break. Children also continue to practice ABC. December sight words are being taught and will be assessed upon our return to school along with September-November. New words will be provided with the new year!
From Morah Gila:
This was a very exciting week, of course, filled with many rehearsals for our Hanukkah production. And wasn’t it a fabulous success!!?? We can all be so proud of our Keshet class. The children did an outstanding job!!
Additionally, we continued our Hebrew languagestudies. One group finished a review decoding book – mazal tov! Our Kindergarteners were introduced to two new letters, Kaf and Chaf. Our script writing group were introduced to the letters Pey, Fey and Zion. Everyone did some pages in workbooks, played a variety of language learning games created specifically for their level of learning, heard stories in Hebrew and experienced other types of language learning lessons. There is a big variety! Everyone completed another page in our Alef-Bet picture dictionaries. Ask them what word they chose for their Tet page!
This week’s parshahis Vayeshev. Ask your child about Joseph’s coat and what his jealous brothers did to him!
